Locksley Hall Alfred, Lord Tennyson


Duke lexuar vargjet nga poema e njohur e Tennyson-it, Locksley Hall, kridhem perseri habitor si dikur, ne thellesi te hapsires e te viteve. Buze ujrave e ne reren e plazheve, mbremjeve pranverore, neteve te kthjellta, atehere kur syte e mi nuk kishin nevoje te ndihmoheshin nga teknologjia, shpesh ne endjet e mija, hidhja syte nga qielli.

Pleiadat apo sic njihen ne shqipen e gegeve, shejzat, jane nje grumbullim yjesh ne kostelacionit e Buallit. Shejzat kane qene e mbeten pjese e mitologjise te kulturave e qyteterimeve te ndryshme. Ne mitologjine greke Pleiadat ishin shtate vajzat e Atlasit dhe Pleinones; per vikinget ato ishin pulat e Freias. Ne Europen e epokes te bronzit, keltet e popullsi te tjera perreth, i kujtonin Pleiadat ne raste pershendoshjesh e funeralesh, kur ato ngriheshin e shendritnin nga lindja, ne qiellin e nates, midis ekuinoksit vjeshtor dhe solsticit dimror, periudhe pergjate te ciles mbahej festivali pagan ne kujtim te te vdekurve. Acteket e kishin ndertuar kalendarin bazuar ne levizjen e Pleiadave ne qiell, ndersa per japonezet shejzat quheshin Subaru "sebashku", emer i huazuar ne kohet moderne nga prodhuesi japonez i automobileve.

Cannes - Movie Review

The Dardennes film ‘Le silence de Lorna’

The double Palme d’Or winners Luc and Jean-Pierre Dardenne came to Cannes with their sixth fiction feature film in their native Belgium. The film is called Le silence de Lorna (Lorna’s Silence) and stars regular Dardenne leading man Jérémie Renier, Italo-Belgian actor Fabrizio Rongione and young Kosovar-Albanian actress Arta Dobroshi, who first came to attention in Kujtim Çashku’s Albanian feature Syri magjik (Magic Eye) from 2005.

Rongione and Renier both starred in films by another Belgian talent, Joachim Lafosse, last year; Rongione in Ça rend heureux (What Makes You Happy), which he co-wrote, and Jérémie alongside his older brother Yannick Renier and French diva Isabelle Huppert in Lafosse's Nue propriété (Private Property). Rongione also had bit parts in two earlier Dardenne films and recently wrapped Ariel Zeitoun's Le dernier gang (The Last Gang).

Newly Established International Folk's “Oscars”

For four days, from 8th to 11th of May, two southern Italian towns, San Severo and Alto Tavogliere in Puglia, became "the reference points” of international folklore as the First Festival of Popular Traditions took place there. The Festival offered space and opportunity to all the lovers of pizzica and taranta with a rich program relevant to the art and traditions of folklore. The event celebrated the lifelong contributions of several international renowned folklore collectors, scholars, musicians, ethnomusicologists from different places of the world. It was the first event of this nature and scale.

Jammin’ The Blues

Some of the most vivid and rare portrait of jazz musicians in action during the 1930s and 1940s came in the form of the Hollywood movies and the so-called “soundies”, stand-alone shorts of the big bands that were packed with feature films. Frequently, popular bands such as those of Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Jimmie Lunceford, Woody Herman, Jimmy Dorsey and Glenn Miller were the biggest draws of the otherwise mostly forgettable films in which they appeared. However, as valuable as these music sequences 60 and 70 years ago might be, they are remembered partly for their Hollywood embellishment rather than for probing for the music itself or its creators on a deeper level.
